Maccabi is a worldwide Jewish sport movement, which dedicates itself to the promotion of amateur sports, as well as cultural, social and leisure activities. It aims to foster physical education as well as the belief in Jewish heritage and the Jewish nation.
The Maccabi World Union is the largest and longest running Jewish sports organization spanning over five continents, more than 60 countries, 450 clubs, and 400,000 members. MWU is a Zionist organization that utilizes sports as a means to bring Jewish people of all ages closer to Judaism and Israel. In 1960, the International Olympic Committee officially recognized the Maccabi World Union as an “Organization of Olympic Standing”.
